Export Shopify Product Images, Videos and 3D Models

Choose file types, filter Shopify products by status, vendor, collection and creation date, and export main images only or products with stock.

To export product media, open Export product files, choose the file types, add filters and press Preview files. The files of every matching product are listed in the preview, and the export contains exactly that list.

Which file types can I export from products?

File typeCheckboxDefaultWhat you get
ImagesInclude imagesOnThe original image file, in the quality Shopify holds.
VideosInclude videosOffThe video file you uploaded, under its upload name.
3D modelsInclude 3D modelsOffThe 3D model file you uploaded.

Videos and 3D models are off by default so that an export stays the size you expect. You can switch images off to export only videos or only 3D models. At least one type must be selected.

Which media is skipped?

  • YouTube and Vimeo videos. Shopify stores a link and not a file, so there is nothing to download.
  • Media that Shopify is still processing. It has no downloadable file yet. Export again once processing has finished.

How do I filter which products are exported?

Every filter is optional, and each one you add narrows the search further.

FilterWhat it does
Select statusAll, Active, Draft or Archived products.
Select vendorProducts from one vendor. Type the exact vendor name. Names with a comma, such as Omega, Swatch, work.
Select collectionProducts in one collection.
Creation date rangeProducts created between two dates. Tick Products created in the specified date range and choose the dates.
Export only main product imagesOnly the first image of each product. Videos and 3D models are not included.
Export only products with stockSkips products without stock.

Filtering by a pasted list of SKUs or barcodes can be switched on for your store by our support team.

How is the image position decided?

The position numbers the exported files of a product in the order Shopify shows its media, starting at 1. Media that is not exported, such as a YouTube video or a type you left out, takes no number. An images-only export therefore numbers images 1, 2, 3 and so on, with no gaps.

Which variant does an image belong to?

For SKU, barcode and variant ID file names, an image takes the variant it is assigned to in Shopify. An image that is not assigned to a variant uses the product’s first variant. See file names and folders for the formats.

What does the preview show?

For each file: a thumbnail (videos and 3D models show an icon), the file name, the product with a link, the handle, the status, the position, the vendor, the SKU, the barcode, the stock and the creation date. The summary above the list shows the number of products found, the number of files by type and the active filters.

Does the preview show every file?

For large catalogs the preview first lists the first 1,000 files and shows a Show all button for the rest. The export always contains every file in the list, not only the ones on screen. If a preview is empty, see troubleshooting.
